The Jackbox Party Pack 3 is a party video game developed and published by Jackbox Games. It is the third installment in The Jackbox Party Pack series, and contains five games: Quiplash 2, Trivia Murder Party, Guesspionage, Tee K.O., and Fakin' It.

Party Pack 3 introduced several new features:

  • Each game now had its own menu screen.
  • Twitch Log-In: When enabled, players are required to be logged into Twitch to join a game. (This feature was previously available in Quiplash for PC/Mac and Drawful 2.)
  • Manual Censoring, which allows the VIP (first player in) to censor players' answers. (This feature was previously available in Drawful 2.)
  • Start Game from Controller Only: When enabled, games must be started through the controller (the host device), not from player devices.
  • Allow Room Code Hiding: When enabled, the room code is hidden by default to prevent players from joining early. The host can toggle between unhiding and hiding the room code with a simple key or button press.
  • A Leaderboard was added to each game for tracking stats of recent or Twitch-locked games. (This was removed in The Jackbox Party Pack 4.)

History

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 was announced (alongside Drawful 2) on March 21st, 2016.[2]

The first game in the pack, Guesspionage, was unveiled on June 1st, 2016.[3] (This marks the first time an original game in a party pack was unveiled before the sequel, and wouldn't be repeated until Party Pack 8 in 2021.[4])

The second game, Quiplash 2, was announced on June 7th, 2016.[5]

The third game, Trivia Murder Party, was announced on Jackbox's Twitter on August 29th, 2016.[6]

The fourth game, Tee K.O., was announced on September 3rd, 2016 during PAX West.[7]

The fifth and final game, Fakin' It, was announced on September 7th, 2016.[8]

A trailer for the Jackbox Party Pack 3 was released on September 15th, 2016[9], however a release date would not be unveiled until October 10th[10]—Party Pack 3 was released on October 18th, 2016 for Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV platforms for $24.99 USD.

The Jackbox Party Pack 3 was later released on the Apple TV (4th generation and higher) on December 2nd, 2016[11], followed by the Nintendo Switch on April 13th, 2017.[12] iPad support was added on October 30th, 2018.[13]

Linux support was officially added on January 7th, 2019, alongside the other party packs.[14]
