YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Louder! Faster! Funnier! is a trivia video game developed by Jellyvision and Berkeley Systems, and was published by Sierra On-Line on March 30th, 2000.[1]

It is the ninth installment in the You Don't Know Jack series, and the second and final compilation pack containing questions from You Don't Know Jack the netshow.

It is the final game in the series to be co-developed by Berkeley Systems.

Gameplay

The game starts up similar to You Don't Know Jack Offline, however the sign-on host is replaced with Sandy, her first and only appearance.

After choosing the number of players (and their respective names), the player is given an episode selection screen, where they can pick one of six randomly chosen episodes (see "List of Episodes" below for more information) using the up and down arrow keys. (If no episode is chosen after a certain period of time, the player has the option to select another six randomly selected episodes by pressing "M".) To select an episode, simply press the "P" key.

Afterwards, the usual player keyboard assignments and basic instructions are shown, which can be skipped by pressing the Spacebar. If the player decides not to skip the instructions, the usual opening credits play, before being greeted by the host Schmitty.

Each episode of YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Louder! Faster! Funnier! always consist of 15 questions.

Each question goes exactly the same way as the previous entries in the franchise: A player picks one of three categories, which is preceded by a question segue, before the chosen category and amount ($1,000 or $2,000 or $3,000) are shown on-screen. The question and its answers are then shown and read out loud by the host, and the player(s) have at least 10 seconds after the host reads the question to buzz in and find the correct answer. If a player gets the question right, they win that amount. If they answer incorrectly, they lose that amount.

In a multiplayer game, during each multiple-choice question, a player can "screw their neighbor" by pressing the "S" key, then selecting either the player's buzzer key or their number. The "screwed" player is then forced to answer the question, otherwise they lose the given amount. If they answer correctly however, the player who enacted the screw loses that amount.

During each episode, there are special questions that will appear:

  • Fill in the Blank: A question is given to the player(s) that requires them to type in the answer. The amount is the same as a standard multiple-choice question.
  • Gibberish Question: Players are given a gibberish phrase that rhymes with the real answer. The starting amount for a Gibberish question is $5,000, which slowly counts down to zero the more time they take.
  • DisOrDat: A player (either the lowest-scoring or one that answered the previous question correctly) is given two choices, and has to pick which one matches one of seven associated answers. Choice A is assigned to the "1" key, choice B is assigned to the "2" key, and both choices (if applicable) is assigned to the "3" key. A player can skip an answer by pressing the "4" key. Each correct answer nets the player $500, while each wrong answer loses them $500.
  • Pissed About a Question: Returning question type from YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Offline. In this question, the host reads a letter from an irritated player, and creates a multiple-choice question around it. The amount is the same as a standard multiple-choice question.
  • Wendithap'n: New to YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Louder! Faster! Funnier! is a question type that plays similar to Threeway. In this question, players are given an event that occurred in history (e.g. "Man first walks on the moon"), then the host will list off 7 other events (e.g. Man first walks on AstroTurf™), and for each one, players have to figure out if it happened before or after the given event, or if it never happened at all. When an answer lights up (before, after, never), a player has to buzz in—if they get it right, they win $1,000, otherwise they lose $1,000.

Starting with Question 8, the point values on all questions are doubled, minus the Wendithap'n. Unlike the previous entries, the screws are not refreshed halfway through.

The final question (Question 15) is always a Jack Attack, which uses similar visuals and sounds to Volume 3 and Offline.

After the Jack Attack concludes, the final scores are shown, and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Afterwards, the top 10 high scores are shown, before the credits roll. During the credits, the player has the option to add the episode to their favorites by pressing the "F" key—favorite episodes can then be accessed by pressing "F" on the episode selection screen. (To return to the episodes screen, press the "N" key.)

If you choose to play with the same players, you will be prompted to pick a new episode every time.
