The box contains 300 task cards with different prompts in their respective categories (Hands of Truth, You Gotta Point, Face Value, Number Pressure, and Text You Up), as well as 18 voting tokens (3 per player), 6 secret wallets (one of which is a Faker wallet), and 1 reveal wallet.<ref>Wilder Toys, "Fakin' It" (Retrieved May 27th, 2025) https://wildertoys.com/collections/frontpage/products/fakin-it</ref>

After everyone has shown their responses, the reveal wallet is flipped over, revealing the task to everyone on the table, after which, every player's chip must be placed on the player that they think is the Faker, with the same regulations as in the original video game. The scoring is different this time however:
* Everyone will earn 1 point if they all correctly guess who the Faker is, while the Faker gets nothing.
* If a player votes on the Faker (despite there being no unanimity), they earn 1 point, adding up to a maximum of 3 points during said round.
* The Faker will earn 1 point per round they avoid detection, adding up to a maximum of 3 points per round.
When a round ends, all wallets are reshuffled and a new card from the category deck is selected in its place. The game ends when a player successfully accumulates 10 points throughout the entire game.

Fakin' It (stylized as Fakin' It!) is a social deduction video game and one of five games featured in The Jackbox Party Pack 3.

A sequel, Fakin' It All Night Long, was released as part of The Jackbox Naughty Pack in 2024.

Gameplay

In each round, all players will receive a prompt on their device with a certain scenario, of which they'll have to read and form an answer to. However, one of the players will not receive said prompt—that person is the Faker. Their goal is to try to blend in with the other players throughout the round without getting caught.

When all players reveal their answers, everyone (as well as the Audience) will then get to cast a vote on which person they think is the Faker. However, the vote MUST be unanimous in order to catch the Faker.

If there isn't a clear consensus, the Faker gets away for that round—if there is a consensus on a player however, their role is presented to everyone.

  • If the player isn't the Faker, then the Faker will get away for that round.
  • If the player is the Faker, then they're caught and the round ends there.
  • If none of the players manage to single out who the Faker is throughout the round, then the Faker's identity is shown.

Once the round has concluded or the Faker is caught, an overview of the round is shown. The Faker will earn a Faker Bonus of 100 points or more depending on how many rounds they've managed to get away from, while the other players earn nothing. However, a player can earn a Sleuth Bonus of 100 points if their vote was casted on said Faker, with increasing point values depending on how many rounds they've voted them on.

All rounds will be decided by a randomly selected player, of which they'll have the following categories to choose from:

  • Hands of Truth: Everyone is given a prompt of which they'll either have to raise their hand or not, depending on the scenario.
  • You Gotta Point: Everyone is given a prompt of which they'll have to point at another person of who they think would fit the prompt.
  • Face Value: Everyone is given a prompt of which they'll have to make a certain facial expression they'll make during their scenario.
  • Number Pressure: Everyone is given a prompt of which they'll have to raise an amount of fingers correspondent to their prompt.

The final round is always "Text You Up", where everyone will be given three separate prompts that they'll have to answer on their device, while the Faker gets either adjacent or unrelated prompts to the answer instead. When all answers are in, the prompt(s) is shown, along with everyone's answers and the voting commences.

After the final round has concluded, the final scores are tallied up, and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins. There's also honorary titles for Best Sleuth and Best Faker.

On October 28th, 2024, Jackbox Games announced that Fakin' It (and its adult-oriented sequel Fakin' It All Night Long) would be adapted into a card game through a partnership with Wilder Toys.[1] The card games were officially released on November 1st, 2024 on Amazon for $19.99 USD[2], before making its way to retail stores, beginning with Barnes & Noble.[3]

The box contains 300 task cards with different prompts in their respective categories (Hands of Truth, You Gotta Point, Face Value, Number Pressure, and Text You Up), as well as 18 voting tokens (3 per player), 6 secret wallets (one of which is a Faker wallet), and 1 reveal wallet.[4]

When a round starts, the secret wallets are shuffled and handed to everyone, then a card is picked out of a category's deck. Everyone will place a card in their wallet, reading the prompt to themselves, then passing the card over to the next person. Once everyone has read the prompt, the task card is put in the reveal wallet (without revealing what the task is) they countdown (3, 2, 1, Fake It!) and respond with their appropriate response.

After everyone has shown their responses, the reveal wallet is flipped over, revealing the task to everyone on the table, after which, every player's chip must be placed on the player that they think is the Faker, with the same regulations as in the original video game. The scoring is different this time however:

  • Everyone will earn 1 point if they all correctly guess who the Faker is, while the Faker gets nothing.
  • If a player votes on the Faker (despite there being no unanimity), they earn 1 point, adding up to a maximum of 3 points during said round.
  • The Faker will earn 1 point per round they avoid detection, adding up to a maximum of 3 points per round.

When a round ends, all wallets are reshuffled and a new card from the category deck is selected in its place. The game ends when a player successfully accumulates 10 points throughout the entire game.

Trivia

  • Within the game's assets, there was supposed to be another round called Noises Off, portrayed by the orange character, which would have the players make a noise corresponding to their prompt.[5]
