Hear Say (stylized as hear say) is an upcoming video game and one of five games featured in The Jackbox Party Pack 11.
The game involves creating sounds (using your voice from your device's microphone) based on a prompt, and competing against fellow players for the best sound effects, which are later presented in a new, visual context.
Gameplay
The game is divided into three rounds, each starting with a minigame, before the players record their sounds.
The first round begins with a warm up, titled Ups & Downs, where players use their voice to move the ball up and down—the goal is to get as many reps as they can in 15 seconds to earn points.
Afterwards, players are given two prompts on their device, and have to record sounds using their voice based on those prompts. The first prompt is then shown, along with its respective recorded sounds. Players (and the audience) then vote on which sound they like best, and the player with the most votes wins that part of the round. The winner's sound is then shown in a new visual context on a TV screen. The second prompt is then shown; the voting portion works the same.
At the end of the first two rounds, the scoreboard (called the "Soundboard") is shown on the screen, before the next round commences.
The second round begins with an "Intermission": A minigame titled Nibble Noises, where the player controls a dragon-like snake using their voice to steer it vertically—the higher the volume, the higher the snake goes. The goal is to get as many dots as possible in 15 seconds to earn extra points. Afterwards, the record sounds portion plays the same as the first round.
The third and final round starts with another "Intermission": A minigame titled Hup Hop, where the player has to make a little toy character jump over obstacles and pits using their voice—the higher the volume, the higher the jump. The goal is to jump over as many obstacles as possible in 15 seconds to earn extra points.
Afterwards, players are given a final set of prompts on their device: In the third round however, there are three prompts, with only two delivered to each player. The three prompts are then shown respectively, with the voting portion working the same as before. However, after the winner of the first round is chosen, the game immediately moves onto the second prompt (and its respective voting portion), followed by the third prompt after the winner of the second sound is chosen.
After the winner of the third sound is chosen, all three sounds are played in order in a new visual context on a TV screen. The runner-up sounds from the third round are also shown in that same visual context right afterwards.
After all is said and done, the final scores are shown (along with an honorable mention for the most likes), and the player with the most points wins the game. During the credits, players can playback the winning recorded sounds in a visual context as part of a "Blooper Reel".
Development
The game's basic premise was first unveiled during the Jackbox Games Direct on April 7th, 2025[1], where it was also revealed that the game would be directed by Alina Constantin, making this her second game she's directed following FixyText.
Near the end of April, Jackbox Games sent out a poll asking for feedback on what the game should be called—the final four chosen were Noice Voice, Noise Voice, Hear Say, and Soundmouth.[2]
On July 22nd, 2025, the game was officially announced with the final name chosen: Hear Say.[3]
The design team for the game are as follows:
- Evan Jacover - Game Lead
- Alina Constantin - Director
- Lindsey Leder - Producer
