Lie Swatter is a trivia video game and one of five games featured in The Jackbox Party Pack.

Gameplay

The game is relatively simple: you're presented with a statement on-screen and on your device. You then have to press either TRUTH if you think that statement is true, and LIE if you think it's bogus.

Every right answer will net you between 100 to 150 points apiece (200 to 300 in the final round), and if you're playing with other players, a 75 point bonus is awarded if you were the fastest player to get the answer correct.

Rounds 1 and 2 will give out seven miscellaneous facts from different categories, whilst the final round's prompts will be about the same topic.

Once all rounds are concluded, the player with the most points wins the game.

Lie Swatter was originally released as a free-to-play mobile app on March 28th, 2013 for iPhone and iPad, with an Android version to come later.[1] The game worked similar to the Party Pack version, and also had optional microtransactions. The original game also had two helpers that required coins: One that revealed a number of true statements, and the other where you can Double Down for twice the points or penalty.[2][3]

In late 2013, a reworked version of Lie Swatter was used to test phones-as-controllers tech with a large crowd, at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago, IL (before a midnight showing of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation)—the audience would join the game through a room code (or Room ID) on togetherplay.tv (the precursor to jackbox.tv).[2][4] Although the test went well, the phones-as-controllers tech would ultimately make its official debut with Fibbage, released on April 2nd, 2014 as a launch title for the Amazon Fire TV.[5]

Lie Swatter was the third game announced for the first Jackbox Party Pack, making its debut on Twitch on October 10th, 2014.[6] The mobile app was taken off of Jackbox Games' website and the iOS App Store shortly after, with the Android version presumingly cancelled.[7]

A standalone version of the game was later ported to Amazon Alexa on May 5th, 2017.[8]
