Mad Verse City is a party video game and one of five games featured in The Jackbox Party Pack 5.

Gameplay

Upon joining the lobby through the device, you are assigned one of eight avatars randomly selected—in case there are an odd number of players, Gene will join as a computer opponent.

All players are given another player in the game to rap against, of which they'll also receive a prompt tasking them to type out a specific word or phrase (i.e. a noun, verb, famous person, etc.) or they can use a suggestion, which will pick out three words that fit the prompt given to them.

After the player types them out, their word/s get added to the end of a pre-made sentence, of which they then have to write another full line to rhyme with. There's also a "Rhyme For Me" button right below the submit button, which will pull up a randomly generated sentence to fill in said line. (PLEASE NOTE: It is not recommended you use this under any circumstances, as the lines given will not rhyme with the last generated sentence.

This process is repeated two times in order to have a two-verse rap. Once the player has finished writing their rap, if there are people still writing theirs, they can rapidly press one of the seven buttons on their device to make something happen on the game's screen (i.e. knocking down several buildings, getting news from the tower, etc.)

Once all raps are submitted, all match-ups are shown and the first players up to bat will show their rhymes first. The player at the left side will always start first, whilst a text-to-speech voice will read out their rap; the same goes for the other player currently battling against them. Whilst both players' raps are being shown, the other players as well as the Audience can "cheer" on a player's rap by either voting them up or down.

When both raps have been shown, the rest of the players plus the Audience will vote on their favorite rap. The winner will earn the bigger percentage of the points (100,000 in Round 1, 300,000 in Round 2 and 450,000 in Round 3) depending on how many members voted for their rap. One of the two players can also gain a Cheer Bonus if their rap got at least one positive cheer from anyone (which can be worth 10,000 points in Round 1, 25,000 in Round 2, and 30,000 in Round 3.) The winner will also get a Winner Bonus, worth the same amount as the Cheer Bonus.

In the case of a tie, either:

• The said Cheer Bonus will determine the winner.
• If no one cheers during the raps, then the game will randomly pick a player.

The structure then repeats itself for three separate rounds. The first and second rounds' players will be selected at random, whilst the third round will face off the players depending on their placement on the Round 2 leaderboard (8th facing 7th, 6th placing 5th, and so on.)

Once all rounds have concluded, the player who earns the most points throughout all rounds will be declared the winner.

Trivia

• Whilst the players are writing in their raps, there's a noticeable building with the text "Binjbox" on it, which is a reference to Binjpipe—a fictional streaming service that surfaced in You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream, located in the same pack.
