Patently Stupid is a party video game and one of five games featured in The Jackbox Party Pack 5.

Gameplay

Firstly, all players will receive two fill-in-the-blank prompts on their device, revolving a certain problem, of which they'll have to type in whatever they want. After all of them have been submitted, they'll receive two problems from two other players, and they'll have to pick one of which they want to solve.

Once everyone has chosen their problem, they'll then have to illustrate their idea on a cocktail napkin, of which they can draw on with a black pen and a marker that's the same color as their mug. They can also tap the "i" button at the top to see their prompt again if needed. When the drawings are in, the players will then be prompted to type in both a title and a tagline for their invention.

Once everyone has finished drawing and writing their inventions, they'll then have to present them—they'll do this by either presenting it themselves, or have Toby and Lena present it for them instead. The latter can also happen if the player doesn't press either button for a couple of seconds.

When all presentations have finished, everyone will be prompted to give out money tokens to three inventions they liked best, with descending cash amounts depending on their placement. Along with the voting, the players shall also fund at least $1,200 to earn a $500 funding bonus.

Once all players have voted, all inventions pop up one by one, revealing the amount of cash they received by every player.

  • If the funding succeeds, the player who earned the invention will earn their cash as well as the others who've funded said product, of which they'll receive double the cash listed in the money token they've given to said invention.
  • If the funding fails, however, only the player who made the invention will earn the amount of cash they raised.

In the final round, the player in first will choose one of the remaining problems on their device that they'll have every other player (along with themself) draw and write an invention for.

The drawing and writing phases will work exactly the same as in the first round, as well as the voting phases, with the addition of higher money values and funding bars.

At the end of both rounds, the player with the most cash overall will win the game.
