Looking for Players

This arc in the series depicts Gene matching with Mother (MSM) on a dating app, which leads to the two having a relationship which is cut short by Mother leaving Gene for Orange (Fakin' It).

Part 1

Gene is sitting at his couch, hosting a game of Fibbage 3: Enough About You. He's the lone player in the lobby, as all other "players" are scarecrows with smartphones taped to their hands.

Part 2

Burning his scarecrows, Gene matches up with Mother on a dating app that resembles Monster Seeking Monster. Mother herself is at a party with the other MSM characters when she matches with him.

Part 3

Their first date is in Doodle Valley from Civic Doodle. They are seen doing some Civic Engagement, AKA spraying graffiti on a wall.

Part 4

They have multiple dates afterward. Depicted are outings involving playing the synthesizer together with the cat from Survive the Internet, and going on a long walk in the scenery of Fibbage 3.

Part 5

While Gene and Mother are out on a date together, Mother spots Orange Faker and immediately falls in love, walking off with him and leaving Gene on his own, to his dismay. While Mother and Orange are walking away, a knife is visible in Mother's hand behind her back. At this same time, Gene spots a flyer for a rap contest. This piques his interest, and in the last panel he's seen on his way towards Mad Verse City.
