The Wheel of Enormous Proportions is a trivia video game and one of five games featured in The Jackbox Party Pack 8.
Gameplay
All players will be presented with a text box on their screen of which they'll have to type in a question that they want the Wheel to answer. (If the Allow Player-Written Responses setting is turned off, then a game-written question is picked for them.)
The players will then be presented to the Wheel himself, before the game starts. After which, they'll earn two slices at the start of the round and be presented with three questions. There are different question types in the game itself:
- Regular/Picking Questions: The question is shown on-screen, with 12 answers listed below it. The player's job is to pick the answers they think fit that category. A point will be added to their total for every correct pick and a point will be deducted for every incorrect pick.
- Please Enumerate: These ask a question that has to be answered with a numerical answer. The players will have to enter a number ranging from 0 to 99,999.
- Counterparts: A category is shown for this question type, of which the players will have to link an answer from the right column with its correct counterpart on the left column. Every incorrect match will freeze the player's device for about three seconds.
- That or This: A question is shown on-screen with two different answers that will swap with others with every correct or incorrect pick. Every incorrect pick will freeze the player's device for about three seconds.
- Don't Forget To Write: The players will have to type out all of the answers that relate to the question itself. Every incorrect answer will be shown on-screen. Every player who discovered a unique word will be rewarded with one extra point, depending on how many they've typed in.
- Subjectively Yours, The Wheel: A question type similar to the "Don't Forget To Write" listed above, but with answers that relate to the Wheel's subjective preferences.
- What Am I Thinking?: The Wheel will ask a question with only one answer, and the players will then try to type in what the Wheel is thinking of. He will then give out up to five clues along the way.
Once all of the players enter their answers, the points are shown.
- The player with the most points during the round will earn two extra slices. The players who've come close will each earn one slice apiece.
- If there's a tie for first, then all players will earn only one slice apiece.
Two of the questions will provide the players with a maximum of two slices per round, with a total maximum of six slices altogether. The final round will provide the players with a Power Slice.
- The Power Slice will be given to the player with the most points during the final round.
- In the case of a tie, the Wheel will randomly pick a player to give the Power Slice to.
Once all slices are collected, the second part of the round begins, where players must put their slices on the Wheel. The players can insert their slices on one of the available slots present, they can also double-tap on one of their slices to add a multiplier, depending on how many slices they have.
Everyone takes turns at spinning the wheel on their device by either tapping or swiping it. Each spin will increase the Spin Meter bar at the top until completion. The amount of points will increase depending on how much power the spinner spun it with. Once the wheel stops, it can land on a multitude of different slices:
- The Player Slots will give points to the player(s) who placed their slices on it.
- If a singular player is on that slot, then all the points from the pool are given to them.
- However, if multiple people are on that slot, an equal amount of points from the pool is given to each individual player.
- The Multiplier Slot(s) will multiply the points of the players who inserted their slices in it. If multiple players place their slices on here, the pot will deminish.
- The Pot Share Slice is a concrete slice where all of the Player Slices next to it will earn a percentage of the total amount of points, including the spinner themselves.
- The Audience Slice(s) will grant the spinner with all of the points from the prize pool. This will also prompt a poll for everyone else, regarding the Wheel itself (ex. Resetting the spin meter, giving points to the player with the most or fewest slices, etc.)
- The Power Slice will grant the Slice Owner with the amount of points shown on the Wheel, as well as various prompts in order to either affect their own score or other players' scores. This will have several "challenges" in order for either the Slice Owner or the rest of the players to earn points.
- Choosing a Winner: Players will be granted to choose a player to give the point pot to. If the players unanimously agree on someone, then that person earns the pot; however, if at least one player picks another, then the pot is given again to the Slice Owner.
- Hide and Seek: The Slice Owner will pick a slice to "hide in," whilst the other players will try to pick the slice that they think the Slice Owner hid themselves at. If the players successfully catch the Slice Owner, then the players will earn an equal amount of the total pot; however, if the players don't catch the Slice Owner, then the pot is given to them instead.
- Point Swap: The Slice Owner can pick two separate players to make them swap points between them.
- Steal Points: The Slice Owner can steal points from a desired slice, and they'll steal a fixed amount of points from the players in said slice.
- Duplicate Slice: The Slice Owner can pick a desired slice, and it'll duplicate withing the two slices next to the one selected by the Slice Owner.
- Rainbow Wheel: A wheel of similar size to the Winner Wheel with twelve slots will be shown: six of them will be occupied by the Slice Owner, whilst the other six will be occupied by the other players (except for the last place player in an 8-player game.) The Slice Owner can spin the Winner Wheel as many times as they'd like within the alloted time, rewarding 1,000 points to the player occupying that slice.
- The Skull Slices will subtract 4,000 points from the spinner's point back and spread them out equally to the other players. These slices only appear after one of the Power Slices has been activated.
