Gene is a character from Survive the Internet, as well as a computer opponent and player avatar in various Jackbox games. He is voiced by Spencer Ham.

Design

Gene has a round, dark gray levitating spherical head with dark side-parted hair and browline glasses. Other than the hair and glasses, he usually has no face.

His body is either depicted as a plain dark-gray polygonal rectangle with detached hands of a similar color (e.g. Survive the Internet and Mad Verse City), or depicted as a short, smooth bipedal cartoony body (e.g. Roomerang and Jackbox Comix), depending on where he appears, and seems to be able to switch between body types.

In Tee K.O. 2, he is depicted as a human-like figure wearing a pink T-shirt, blue pants, and brown shoes.

Appearances

Gene first appeared in Survive the Internet as a computer opponent if you have only 3 players in a game. Since then, he has appeared in almost every party pack, as well as across various Jackbox Games projects.

In Party Pack 5, Gene appears as a computer opponent in Mad Verse City if the game contains an odd amount of players, and in Patently Stupid if the game has less than 4 players.

In Party Pack 6, Gene appears in Joke Boat as a puppet avatar—he is only playable by the 8th player who joins a game.

In Party Pack 7's Champ'd Up, a picture of Gene will appear if a player draws nothing (or their drawing is rejected by a moderator), and they instantly lose.

In Party Pack 8's Drawful Animate, a drawing of Gene appears if a player fails to submit a drawing of themselves (or is rejected by a moderator) while in the lobby.

In Party Pack 9, Gene appears during the Quickie round of Roomerang, where all the player avatars are replaced with Gene. His name also appears on the Quixort Forever scoreboard, ranking number 4 with a score of 120,050.

In Party Pack 10, Gene appears as a playable avatar in Tee K.O. 2 and Timejinx—in the case of the latter, Gene is only accessible by joining the game's lobby as "Gene".

Outside of the Jackbox games, Gene appears in the first Jackbox Comix "Looking for Players", where he briefly dates with the Mother from Monster Seeking Monster. He also appears as a cameo in The Jackbox Megapicker, and his name is shown in graffiti on the main menu screen for Dirty Drawful.

Gene is also the name of the virtual assistant on the company's official support page.

• According to a Reddit AMA, Gene is a "Christian dentist who makes song parody videos with his family of seven".
